Updated Idea! What if in some rooms, there is a spiderweb, and since Amanda is afraid of Spiders, as long as you are near the web, you are safe, so you can actually be able to hide, and Wooly can be afraid of Snakes, but you have to make sure to not step on the snake, or it'll bite you and slow you down.

So he tries to keep her calm so her emotions don't go cray and free the Entity, and when she kills Wooly, there is nothing to stop her emotions, so she becomes less friendly and much more sinister, hinting at the presence of the Entity.
