Amanda the Adventurer 2 is a 2024 indie horror game developed by MANGLEDmaw Games and published by DreadXP. As the sequel to Amanda the Adventurer (2023), the story continues with Riley Park and the masked figure visiting the Kensdale Public Library to search for more Amanda the Adventurer tapes.
Amanda the Adventurer 2 was confirmed to be in development by DreadXP in October 2023.[1] It was released for Windows on October 22, 2024. A sequel and conclusion to the series, Amanda the Adventurer 3, was announced in April 2025.
Gameplay[]

In "Let's Start the Day!", Amanda asks the viewer to find a frying pan. The player can bring back the pan, a torch, or a lighter. The incorrect items will be rejected.
Continuing from the gameplay of Amanda the Adventurer, the player must solve puzzles to find tapes containing episodes of the children's animated series. When prompted by Amanda in the show, the player can click on objects or type an answer. The objects disappear, or the player can only type the right answer if they keep answering incorrectly. Unlike before, the player's choices have more influence on what Amanda and Wooly decide to do.
A new interaction feature is "GET UP!", where Amanda requests the player to bring her an item. The TV remains unpaused as the player grabs one of the items that have appeared nearby and returns it to Amanda.
The player can use additional hints to find four colored secret tapes, continuing the live-action insights into the story. These tapes are required to obtain the true ending.
Plot[]
The masked figure introduces herself to Riley Park as a close friend of their late aunt Kate and offers a place to rest. At night, the masked figure in her car reveals the two are heading to the Kensdale Public Library to search for answers inside Kate's office. Once at the library, the figure leaves to keep watch, giving Riley a radio. By solving more puzzles, Riley finds more Amanda the Adventurer tapes to watch in the library's Kid's Corner.
"Let's Plan a Trip" involves Amanda planning imaginary trips with her "magic train." Her process of collecting coins to pay for her tickets is momentarily interrupted by an opossum who attempts to steal the coins. In "Goodnight!", Amanda prepares for bed by putting away her toys and washing up. The opossum reappears and tries to eat her toothpaste. Afterward, Amanda, in bed, shares her difficulty with sleeping alone and reveals she knows Riley's name. In "Let's Start the Day!", Amanda wakes up and prepares breakfast, which can be ruined by the opossum.
Wooly returns in "Let's Practice Patience!", much to Amanda's frustration. Regardless, the two use their patience in a time-consuming process to build a birdhouse. In "When You're Feeling Bad", Wooly attempts to tell a dejected Amanda a story to cheer her up, but Riley tells a different version, which helps Amanda and irritates Wooly. In "Let's Hunt for Treasure!", Amanda and Wooly search the woods for treasure. After it disappoints Amanda, the Entity appears as she tells Riley to find another treasure. After giving the Entity a Wooly puppet, a howl outside the library causes the creature to retreat.
In a glitchy "We Can Fix It!", Amanda and Wooly repair items from the latter's "throw away" box, which ends with a failed attempt to fix Amanda's heart. In the final tape, "Do You Feel Safe?", Amanda discusses fears and trust with Riley before the opossum's reappearance interrupts her and Wooly. The opossum hears the masked figure's voice on Riley's radio, prompting it to jump at the camera. The opossum is held back by Amanda and Wooly and thrown into a dumpster.
With the masked figure back inside the library, Riley finds a cassette tape that they play in Kate's office. The tape reveals Kate was killed in a car accident after she frantically warned Riley not to watch the Amanda the Adventurer tapes. The masked figure hears and removes her mask to reveal herself as Joanne Cook. She feels responsible for Kate's death because she went to Kate's house to smash her tapes after being told it would free her brother, Jordan Cook, which prompted the Entity to attack. As Joanne tells Riley her goal of finding the tapes and bringing down Hameln Entertainment, a sheep-like creature seen earlier by Joanne enters the library and mutilates her. Riley, with an unlabeled tape, descends a secret ladder in Kate's office.

Reception[]

The first puzzle, which involved finding a code for a bike lock in several books, was criticized for its difficulty. Kyle LeClair from Hardcore Gamer considered it to be "one for the all-time lists of worst puzzles" and noted several people in a stream knew the solution, but not how to obtain it.[7] In response, the game was updated on November 15, 2024, to smooth and shorten the puzzle.[8]
Awards and accolades[]
Amanda the Adventurer 2 was nominated for Best Narrative in the Horror Game Awards 2024.[9]
