Amanda the Adventurer Wiki
Not to be confused with "In the Kitchen".
"Hi! I'm Amanda." "And I'm Wooly!"
This article is about the original game, Amanda the Adventurer: Pilot Episode, which is of dubious canonicity.

"Baking a Pie", or Episode 1, is the first tape in Amanda the Adventurer: Pilot Episode. It is found next to the TV.

Synopsis[]

Amanda and Wooly go to the store to buy apples to bake an apple pie.

Transcript[]

The title card for Amanda the Adventurer is shown. It then fades to Amanda and Wooly standing in a field.

  • Amanda: "Hi! I'm Amanda."
  • Wooly: "And I'm Wooly!"
  • Amanda: "And I love apples! Do you love apples?"

A three-letter prompt appears. No matter the answer, the episode continues normally.

  • Wooly: "I'm allergic to apples..."
  • Amanda: "That's okay! You should never be afraid to try something new!"

The camera pans out to show a house, a store, and a swing set.

  • Wooly: "But, we don't even know where the store is!"
  • Amanda: [to the viewer] "Do you know where the store is?"

If the player clicks the house or swing set:

  • Amanda: "Do you know where the store is?"

Clicking the house or swings again causes them to disappear.

  • Amanda: "Do you know where the store is...?"

After clicking the store:

  • Amanda: "Yeah, that's right! Let's go!"

Cut to inside the store with Amanda and Wooly, where crates of apples and oranges bop up and down.

  • Amanda: "We're at the store!"
  • Wooly: "It sure looks crowded... baaah!"
  • Amanda: "And look, there are apples! [to the viewer] Can you say apple?"

A five-letter prompt appears.

If the player types anything other than "apple":

  • Amanda: "Say apple!"

Doing it again causes Amanda to look angry for a second.

  • Amanda: "Apple."

The player is then forced to type "apple", despite whatever key they press.

After typing "apple":

  • Amanda: "Good job! Now we can make apple pie!"

Trivia[]

  • In the opening when the camera is zoomed in on Amanda, something moves up and down behind a bush.
    • Upon closer inspection, this may simply be the sun's shadow (which initially moves up and down).
  • At the store, Wooly says "It sure looks crowded" despite nobody else being shown.
  • The episode is titled "Baking a Pie", despite a pie not being baked in the episode. However, this occurs in "In the Kitchen", which follows a similar plot.
  • Brief clips of the episode are shown in "Riley's Fav Movies" and "Summer 1984".
  • In the credits, the following are references:
    • "Heave Starvey" is a play on the name of real-world celebrity Steve Harvey, who is primarily known for his role as the host of Family Feud with his reactions to contestants' absurd answers and the host of his own talk show named after him.
    • While not a reference, "Hurtz Dohnut" is a play on the phrase "Hurts, don't it?"
    • "Senor Cardgage" is a reference to the web series Homestar Runner wherein Strong Bad describes what he would look like if he wasn't buff and handsome to a fan only for it to be revealed at the end that "Senor Cardgage" was essentially a creepy neighbor to him back when he was a kid.
    • "Leif Erikson" is a reference to SpongeBob SquarePants in the episode "Bubble Buddy" where SpongeBob expresses how eager he is to celebrate "Leif Erikson Day" dressed up in viking gear before heading over to Patrick's house to invite him, only to find that he, alongside Sandy and Squidward, are unavailable that day.
    • The name Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen is shown. This references a character in Spongebob Squarepants in the episode "One Krabs Trash" as the fabled owner of the #1 soda drinking hat that Mr. Krabs tries to steal back from SpongeBob after selling it to him and learning that it's worth a fortune by investors.
    • The line "Huge McThankies from Alvin McSpankies" is a reference to The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius in the episode "Men at Work" wherein Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen work at the McSpanky's burger restaurant and Jimmy, being tasked with manning the cash register, is reprimanded by the manager, Skeet, that he needs to respond with "Big McThankies from McSpanky's" to the customers following them paying for their order.
