Rewind Button[]
Wanting to fully utilize the interactiveness of the tapes, the developers came up with the pause button alongside a rewind button for the TV. Some ideas for the rewind button's function would be rewinding a part where Amanda said something in reverse to decipher it, and going to a certain part in the episode to trigger changes in the attic. Interacting with that change would cause the episode to be different.
However, questions arose, such as what would happen if the player rewind past a part where they answered Amanda's question, and if they needed to answer it again. These constant questions that interfered with the tapes' functions led to the rewind button's scrapping.
“ | This was a cool idea, but it really wasn't- we weren't really getting any mileage off of it. If anything, it was making it more difficult to design puzzles around, so we ended up scrapping it and just keeping the pause button since we already knew what we wanted to do with the pause button. | ” |

Going to a certain part in an episode to interact with something in the attic would be implemented in "What's a Family?", where the player pauses on the EAS warnings to interact with the Say n' See.
