"Finding Treasure"

"Finding Treasure", also known as Episode ? on the tape's spine, is a secret tape from Amanda the Adventurer: Pilot Episode. After watching the Secret Tape, it appears on the table next to the couch.

Synopsis

Amanda and Wooly are in the woods searching for treasure.

Transcript

The tape begins in the middle of an episode.

• Amanda: "[glitching] Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-Y-You're right! The treasure map said the woods! Let's go!"

Cut to Amanda and Wooly standing in the middle of the woods.

• Amanda: "I think we're close to the treasure now. Aren't you excited, Wooly?"

Wooly doesn't respond, looking zoned out.

• Amanda: [demonic-like tone] "I said, 'Aren't you excited?'"
• Wooly: "Huh? Oh yeah... right... um... yeah, but we still don't know where the treasure is uh... buried."

The camera zooms out to a bird's eye view where three marks are shown - an X, a square, and an O.

• Amanda: "Our friend, the GPS, said that 'X' marks the spot. Can you see where the 'X' is?"

If the player clicks the other marks:

• Amanda: "'X' marks the spot!"

After the second time:

• Amanda: "The one with the 'X', that's the one!"

After the third time, two trees appear on the incorrect marks.

• Amanda: "We're looking for the 'X', right?"

After clicking the 'X':

• Amanda: "There it is! Treasure awaits!"

After brief static, Amanda and Wooly are shown standing next to the spot. The cartoony trees are replaced with a realistic forested background.

• Amanda: "Looks like the spot!"
• Wooly: [inattentive] "But how are we supposed to get at it under all the dirt? Bahhh!"
• Amanda: "Luckily, I brought the tools to help us with our adventure. I brought a crowbar, a rope, and a shovel!"

The items appear as she lists them.

• Amanda: "We already used the crowbar for the door. We used the rope for--"

Amanda's dialogue is cut off by static.

• Amanda: "--m. And now, we only have the shovel! What tool should we use to dig up the treasure?"

A six-letter prompt appears.

If the player doesn't type "shovel":

• Amanda: "I didn't bring that! What could we use to dig up the treasure?"

After the second time:

• Amanda: [looking angry] "The only tool we haven't used yet is the shovel. With that said, the only tool we would need is..."

After typing "shovel":

• Amanda: "The shovel, you're right! Now we can dig this up before someone--"
• Wooly: [angrily] "Okay, that's enough! Bahhh! No, I- I can't let you do this anymore! I don't care what you do to me!"

Wooly walks to the camera and speaks to the viewer. Behind him, Amanda starts to levitate and look aggressive.

• Wooly: "You! Take the tape out now, and destroy them! Burn them! Whatever, just get rid of these other tapes! Do you hear me? You can't let anyone else watch these!"

Wooly's dialogue becomes corrupted as Amanda twitches behind him, looking monstrous and preparing to strike. It cuts to static.

Suddenly, a live-action video is shown of a man with a flashlight and camera in the middle of a forest. He looks around for a bit, before setting a tape labeled "TAPE ███████" under some sticks. He takes out a lighter, ready to set the sticks and tape on fire before some kind of force tries to stop him. A five-letter prompt appears.

If the player answers incorrectly, the man continues to be held back by the force. The TV static intensifies and whispering is heard.

The prompt appears again. Answering incorrectly shows the man still struggling.

The prompt appears once again. Answering incorrectly shows the man still struggling. The whispering is much louder.

---

After the player (is forced to) type "watch", the man closes the lighter and puts it away, before grabbing the tape and walking away.

The video cuts, the man now being in a call with someone. The camera shows a light inside a car continuously waving over the tape and a box reading "DESTROY TAPES DO NOT WATCH".

• Man:
  • "Hello? Yeah, hey. Um... yeah, no, I found it. Yeah, I found the place, it was just uh... it was just off the highway... yeah not too far right here.
  • Um... yeah, no, they're all- hold on, what?
  • Was I- Was I followed? N- No I... no I don't think so. Who would- Who would be following me?
  • No, nobody- nobody was there, it was just me.
  • Um... yeah, no, the tapes are all destroyed too. Th- They're gone, every single one.
  • Yeah, no... no problem. Um... listen, I- It- It- It's getting late, I uh... I really need to get home, uh, I got work tomorrow, so I'll uh... I'll call you when I get back home, okay?
  • Cool, okay. Have a good night. I'll uh... I'll talk to you soon.
  • 'Kay, bye."

A slam (presumably a car door) is heard before the tape ends.

Trivia

• It's theorized that Amanda used the crowbar to break into a house, used the rope to hang somebody, and is now trying to dig up the victim's body or something related to the victim.
  • The storyboard depicts the spot as a grave (see gallery).
• The GPS that Amanda mentioned is most likely inspired by Map from Dora the Explorer.
