"In the Kitchen" is the first tape the player watches in Amanda the Adventurer. It is found next to the TV.
Synopsis[]
Amanda and Wooly prepare and bake an apple pie.
Transcript[]
The title card for Amanda the Adventurer is shown. It cuts to Amanda and Wooly standing in a kitchen.
- Amanda: "Hi! I'm Amanda!"
- Wooly: "And I'm Wooly!"
- Amanda: "Today, we're going to make an apple pie!"
- Wooly: "My favorite is peach pie!"
- Amanda: "What's your favorite kind of pie?"
A six-letter prompt appears:
If the player gives unconventional answers, such as "Lamb" or "Mutton", Wooly gasps and the music slows down.
- Amanda: [turning to Wooly] "Mmm, that sounds delicious!"
If the player types anything in the six-letter prompt:
- Amanda: "Mmm, that sounds delicious!"
- Amanda: "Today, we're going to make an apple pie! First, we need to cut the apples. Hmmm, do you know what we can use to cut the apples?"
A five-letter prompt appears.
If the player answers incorrectly, Wooly and Amanda shake their heads:
- Amanda: "We can't use that."
After answering incorrectly three times, the player is forced to type "Knife".
After typing "Knife", Amanda is shown with a knife in a close-up.
- Amanda: "Good job! We can use a sharp knife!"
Behind Amanda is a drawing of an oven being turned on.
- Wooly: "Uhhh, I don't think we're supposed to do that by ourselves."
- Amanda: "It's always good to be brave when you're by yourself!"
Amanda points the knife at Wooly, much to his dismay.
- Amanda: "Look, I'm a pirate! Haha! Hehe!"
- Wooly: "That doesn't seem safe..."
- Amanda: [sarcastically] "Okay, Wooly. [to Riley] Let's cut the apples."
The video glitches and cuts. Flour and butter have appeared on the counter.
- Amanda: "That was hard!"
Wooly nods and claps in agreement.
- Amanda: "We have almost everything we need to make our pie. We just need some sugar. Hmm, do you know where we keep the sugar? Is it in the pantry, the refrigerator, or the sink?"
If the player clicks the wrong object:
- Amanda: "Nope, try again!"
After the second time:
- Amanda: [annoyed] "Don't you want to help me?"
After the third time, the sink and fridge disappear. The oven looks around curiously.
- Amanda: "So, where's the sugar?"
After clicking the pantry:
- Amanda: "Great! Let's make a pie!"
A prepared pie is shown on the table.
- Amanda: "Mmm, can you smell the apples and cinnamon? [pause] Okay, it's time to bake a pie! First, preheat the oven to four hundred twenty-five--"
- Wooly: "I don't think we should be using the oven by ourselves. We should always ask a parent to help."
- Amanda: "I'm not sure where they are right now. [giggles] We're on our own, Wooly!"
Illustrations for the instructions are shown.
- Amanda: "First, preheat the oven to four hundred twenty-five degrees. Then, put the apples into the pie tin. Now put it in the oven and bake it for 40 minutes."
The pie finishes baking. It rests on the stove.
- Amanda: "Our pie is ready! I can't wait to eat it! Wooly, let's have some pie!"
Amanda and Wooly wave Riley goodbye. The tape ends.

Behind Amanda is a drawing of an oven being turned on. If the player were to pause the TV and turn on the toy oven, the oven in the show bursts into flames.
- Amanda: "AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"
- Wooly: "AH! AH! OH NO! AH!"
The two cower. The tape then ends.

Trivia[]
The planned cipher
- As shown in the demo, a cipher was planned to show where the oven drawing is, with many aspects using the cipher. The flower color key would be a crossword puzzle for the cipher key. However, this would require many associated aspects to be translated into 13 languages.[1]
- In the demo, Amanda asks for the viewer's favorite pie at the end of the episode. She and Wooly also do not wave.
- This is the only Gruesome Ending tape without a full variation and a different way to achieve it.
