Katherine "Kate" Park was a librarian at the Kensdale Public Library and the aunt of Riley Park. Kate played a role in the promotion of Amanda the Adventurer, but would later investigate it following its purchase by Hameln Entertainment and the disappearance of those who watched the show. Kate eventually passed away, leaving behind a VHS tape of an Amanda the Adventurer episode for Riley to watch.
History[]
Kate worked as a librarian at the Kensdale Public Library since the early 1990s, earning a certificate for her work on March 12, 1993. At some point, she gifted Riley roller-skates, sending a thank-you letter in response. They would go on summer vacation in an unspecified year.[1]
In 1999 when Sam Colton's live-action Amanda the Adventurer premiered,[2] Kate promoted it during storytimes at the library. Her contributions helped greatly, as Sam would recognize her as "a champion of the project."[3] Sam's adopted daughter Rebecca would sometimes visit Kate.[4]
Kate would continue promoting the show when it was turned into an animated series by Hameln Entertainment. However, when controversies and disappearances involving the show began to occur, it prompted Kate to investigate the show in her "other kind of work". She became close to Joanne Cook, whose brother was a victim of the disappearances, and believed the show had something evil behind it.[5]
After over a decade of investigating Amanda the Adventurer,[6] Kate became aware of her upcoming fate and sent Riley a letter:
Dear Riley,
If you are reading this, it means that you won't see me again unless it's in the next life. I wish I could have told you everything. I don't know how much time I have, and there is still so much I have to do before I'm gone. This letter serves two purposes: to say goodbye and to bequeath to you my house in Kensdale.
This next part may be a mistake, and gods forgive me if it is. When you settle in, there's something in the attic I need to pass on to you. Look for a tape. But know that once you watch it, there's no turning back. Stay safe, my dear.
~ With you always, Aunt Kate
The details of Kate's death are unknown. When Riley watched "In Your Neighborhood", the plot revolved around Amanda wanting to mail her friend a gift, who was revealed to be Kate. When Riley later visited the library, they met a masked figure who claimed to be affiliated with Kate and needs Riley's help to find something Kate left behind.[7]
When Riley watched "Let's Plan a Trip", Amanda asked who they would see if they could visit anyone in the world. Riley answers "Kate", causing Amanda to wish she could still visit her.[determinant]
