— Kate in "Occult Research Meetings" |
Katherine "Kate" Park was a librarian at the Kensdale Public Library and the aunt of Riley Park. Kate played a role in the promotion of Amanda the Adventurer, but she and a group would later investigate it for over a decade following its purchase by Hameln Entertainment, the placement of hidden messaging, and the disappearance of those who watched the show.
In February 2023,[1] Kate sent a letter to Riley about leaving behind a VHS tape of an Amanda the Adventurer episode to continue her investigation. Soon realizing this was a mistake, she recorded a message for Riley before dying in a car crash.
History[]
As a librarian[]
Kate worked as a librarian at the Kensdale Public Library since the early 1990s, earning a certificate for her work on March 12, 1993. At some point, she gifted Riley roller-skates, sending a thank-you letter in response. They would go on summer vacation in an unspecified year.[2]
In 1999 when Sam Colton's live-action Amanda the Adventurer premiered,[3] Kate promoted it during story times at the library. Her contributions helped greatly, as Sam would recognize her as "a champion of the project."[4] Sam's adopted daughter Rebecca Colton would sometimes visit Kate.[5]
Kate and the library would continue promoting the show when it was turned into an animated series by Hameln Entertainment.
Investigation[]
Kate began investigating Amanda the Adventurer following a connection with recent disappearances and the show. She began logging her observations after noticing a sigil in an episode, later logging dozens of demonic references. Kate became close to Joanne Cook, who was aware of Kate's research, and whose younger brother Jordan Cook was a victim of the disappearances.[6]
Kate would often meet with fellow researchers Caroline, David, and Peter, who shared Kate's observations with the messaging of Amanda the Adventurer. They also believed Hameln was the latest iteration of a cult tracked for centuries, being responsible for trapping Rebecca in the show.[7]
In a meeting nearly 15 years after Rebecca's transplant, Kate, Caroline, and Peter argued about the possibility of Rebecca still being alive, with Kate and Caroline being certain they had contacted her.[7]
Death[]
In February 2023,[1] Kate believed she would be dead soon and wrote a letter for Riley, explaining her house would be bequeathed to them and she would pass on a tape to watch. Joanne, who was told she could free Jordan by destroying the Amanda the Adventurer tapes, went to Kate's house and demanded she give them to her. The Entity, protecting the tapes, attacked, and Kate escaped after being urged by Joanne, leading Kate to believe she was killed.
In a frantic final message she recorded for Riley while driving, Kate retracts what she stated in her letter and tells Riley to destroy the tapes and not watch them. She also claimed everyone she worked with were now dead (including Joanne who had in fact survived the attack) and hoped for Riley to be protected. Whilst recording the message, Kate ending up colliding with another car and died.
